a Turkish dish-Patlıcan Musakka-Eggplant with Ground Beef

After I made this dish to some of my friends in America, they liked it and asked for the recipe. Then I decided to write my own recipe rather than giving a recipe from the internet .

Patlıcan Musakka- Eggplant with Ground Beef

2 big eggplants

1 onion

300 gr ground beef

2-3 tomatoes

1-2 cloves of garlic

Half bunch of parsley

1 big green pepper ( bell pepper)

Olive oil

Oregano, cumin, black pepper, red pepper, salt,

Peel the eggplants striped and cut in 4 equel pieces of each. Then, put them in a bowl full of water with 1 teaspoon salt to prevent bitterness of eggplants. Let them stand for about half an hour. Then, drain the eggplants and slice them.

Preheat the oven 375 F. Put eggplants in a baking pot and put some olive oil on it and the stir to make the oil well corporated. Put it in the oven. Cook until the eggplants get soft.

While eggplants cooks, make the meat mixture.

Put the meat in a big pan with some olive oil and stir for about 2 minutes. Then add the chopped onion, pepper and garlic. Keep stirring constantly. When the meat is cooked enough and the onions get trasparent, add diced tomatoes. After all is cooked and well incorporated add the spices, salt and chopped parsley. Turn off the heat. Put this mixture equally on top of the eggplants. Pour a half cup of boiled water over it. Then bake about 10 minutes.

Afiyet olsun!
